History

The Marilyn and William Young Charitable Foundation was established in 1998 upon the passing of Marilyn Field Young to honor her late husband, Bill Jr., and their joint interest in philanthropy. This private foundation’s Trustees began awarding grants in 1999 with the mission of assisting charitable programs and projects of not-for-profit organizations primarily located in Owensboro, Kentucky. In these two decades, our grants have touched the lives of many in our community from those seeking higher education, to those seeking shelter and those who wish to experience the arts. Many organizations are longstanding grant recipients and partners of the foundation, yet many worthwhile initiatives have received pilot funding from the foundation as well. As our community evolves, so has the Young Foundation. Our history involves a tradition of civic support which will continue to inspire our Board as we embrace the next decade of our story.
