E. Phillips Malone, a native of Franklin, Kentucky, is the current Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Foundation. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BE Degree in Civil Engineering and the University of Kentucky College of Law with a Juris Doctorate Degree. Phil came to Owensboro when he was employed as an attorney in the Law Department of Texas Gas Transmission Corporation. During his career there, he held the positions of Assistant General Counsel and Vice-President of Legal Affairs. After the purchase of Texas Gas by the CSX Corporation, Phil chose not to relocate to another city, and decided to enter the private practice of law. He then joined the law firm of Moore & Moore, which became Moore, Moore & Malone. This firm was later known as Moore, Moore, Malone & Burlew, and is now known as Moore, Malone & Safreed. Prior to her death, Marilyn Young, the benefactor of the Foundation, appointed Phil as a Director. He has been the Chairman of the Owensboro-Daviess County Ethics Commission, Vice-Chairman of Legal Affairs of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, a Director of the Owensboro Community and Technical College Foundation and the Safe Children Foundation. Phil has also served as a Trustee of Kentucky Wesleyan College and Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
With his wife Nancy, they have two daughters and are the proud grandparents of five grandsons and a granddaughter.
